## Design that's easy to use, not just nice to look at

Good design starts before anyone picks colours. We look at who will use the product, what they're trying to get done and where they get stuck today. Then we sketch the structure of each screen and test it before any visual design.

Once the flow works, we design the screens in Figma: type, colour, spacing and the small states that are easy to forget, such as empty lists, errors and loading. Everything goes into a shared component library, so new pages stay consistent.

Because we also [build websites](https://www.grettech.com/services/web-development) and [apps](https://www.grettech.com/services/app-development), our files are made to be built. Developers on your team, or ours, can take them straight into code.

## What's included

- **Research and goals**: A short workshop and, where possible, conversations with real users, so we agree on what the design needs to fix.
- **Wireframes**: Plain layouts for each key screen, so structure and content are settled before style.
- **Clickable prototype**: A Figma prototype you can tap through on your phone and show to customers or investors.
- **Visual design**: Final screens for mobile and desktop, including the empty, error and loading states.
- **Design system**: Colours, type, spacing and reusable components, documented so the product stays consistent as it grows.
- **Developer handover**: Specs, assets and a walkthrough with whoever is building it, so the result matches the design.

## Common questions

**What's the difference between UI and UX design?**
UX is how the product works: the steps someone takes, what they see first and what happens when something goes wrong. UI is how it looks: layout, type, colour and the controls themselves. We do both, in that order.

**Which design tool do you use?**
Figma, for everything from wireframes to final screens and prototypes. You get full access to the files, and they stay yours after the project.

**Can you redesign our existing website or app?**
Yes. We start by reviewing what's there, including where people get stuck, then fix the biggest problems first. A redesign doesn't have to mean starting from scratch.

**Do you also build the designs?**
We can. We build websites and apps as well, so the people who designed the screens can see them through development. If you have your own developers, we'll hand the files over to them instead.

**How long does a design project take?**
It depends on the number of screens and how much research is needed. A website redesign usually takes a few weeks; a new app with many flows takes longer. We agree on scope and dates before we start.
